The 140file descriptors can be added to multisocketsink by emitting the “add” signal. 141For each descriptor added, the “client-added” signal will be called.
142
A client can also be added with the “add-full” signal 143that allows for more control over what and how much data a client 144initially receives.
145
Clients can be removed from multisocketsink by emitting the “remove” signal. For 146each descriptor removed, the “client-removed” signal will be called. The 147“client-removed” signal can also be fired when multisocketsink decides that a 148client is not active anymore or, depending on the value of the 149“recover-policy” property, if the client is reading too slowly. 150In all cases, multisocketsink will never close a file descriptor itself. 151The user of multisocketsink is responsible for closing all file descriptors. 152This can for example be done in response to the “client-fd-removed” signal. 153Note that multisocketsink still has a reference to the file descriptor when the 154“client-removed” signal is emitted, so that "get-stats" can be performed on 155the descriptor; it is therefore not safe to close the file descriptor in 156the “client-removed” signal handler, and you should use the 157“client-fd-removed” signal to safely close the fd.
158
Multisocketsink internally keeps a queue of the incoming buffers and uses a 159separate thread to send the buffers to the clients. This ensures that no 160client write can block the pipeline and that clients can read with different 161speeds.
162
When adding a client to multisocketsink, the “sync-method” property will define 163which buffer in the queued buffers will be sent first to the client. Clients 164can be sent the most recent buffer (which might not be decodable by the 165client if it is not a keyframe), the next keyframe received in 166multisocketsink (which can take some time depending on the keyframe rate), or the 167last received keyframe (which will cause a simple burst-on-connect). 168Multisocketsink will always keep at least one keyframe in its internal buffers 169when the sync-mode is set to latest-keyframe.
170
There are additional values for the “sync-method” 171property to allow finer control over burst-on-connect behaviour. By selecting 172the 'burst' method a minimum burst size can be chosen, 'burst-keyframe' 173additionally requires that the burst begin with a keyframe, and 174'burst-with-keyframe' attempts to burst beginning with a keyframe, but will 175prefer a minimum burst size even if it requires not starting with a keyframe.
176
Multisocketsink can be instructed to keep at least a minimum amount of data 177expressed in time or byte units in its internal queues with the 178“time-min” and “bytes-min” properties respectively. 179These properties are useful if the application adds clients with the 180“add-full” signal to make sure that a burst connect can 181actually be honored.
182
When streaming data, clients are allowed to read at a different rate than 183the rate at which multisocketsink receives data. If the client is reading too 184fast, no data will be send to the client until multisocketsink receives more 185data. If the client, however, reads too slowly, data for that client will be 186queued up in multisocketsink. Two properties control the amount of data 187(buffers) that is queued in multisocketsink: “buffers-max” and 188“buffers-soft-max”. A client that falls behind by 189“buffers-max” is removed from multisocketsink forcibly.
190
A client with a lag of at least “buffers-soft-max” enters the recovery 191procedure which is controlled with the “recover-policy” property. 192A recover policy of NONE will do nothing, RESYNC_LATEST will send the most recently 193received buffer as the next buffer for the client, RESYNC_SOFT_LIMIT 194positions the client to the soft limit in the buffer queue and 195RESYNC_KEYFRAME positions the client at the most recent keyframe in the 196buffer queue.
197
multisocketsink will by default synchronize on the clock before serving the 198buffers to the clients. This behaviour can be disabled by setting the sync 199property to FALSE. Multisocketsink will by default not do QoS and will never 200drop late buffers.
201
202
Synopsis
203
204<a
