17
Mesa 9.0 Release Notes / October 8, 2012

18
19

20Mesa 9.0 is a new development release.
21People who are concerned with stability and reliability should stick
22with a previous release or wait for Mesa 9.0.1.
23

24

25Mesa 9.0 implements the OpenGL 3.1 API, but the version reported by
26glGetString(GL_VERSION) or glGetIntegerv(GL_MAJOR_VERSION) /
27glGetIntegerv(GL_MINOR_VERSION) depends on the particular driver being used.
28Some drivers don't support all the features required in OpenGL 3.1. OpenGL
293.1 is only available if requested at context creation
30because GL_ARB_compatibility is not supported.
31

44

45Note: some of the new features are only available with certain drivers.
46

47
48

49
Added new Gallium3D - nv30 driver

50
Added new Gallium3D - radeonsi driver

51
Added OpenCL state tracker Clover

52
Completed VDPAU state tracker (video decoding support is currently limited to MPEG1 and MPEG2)

53
GL_ARB_base_instance

54
GL_ARB_blend_func_extended

55
GL_ARB_debug_output

56
GL_ARB_invalidate_subdata - Currently a "no-op" implementation. This
57extension is always enabled in all drivers.

62
GL_ARB_transform_feedback_instanced

63
GL_ARB_uniform_buffer_object

64
GL_EXT_unpack_subimage for ES 2.0

68
GLX_ARB_create_context_robustness

69
EGL_KHR_create_context

70
EGL_KHR_surfaceless_context - This replaces the
71EGL_KHR_surfaceless_{gles1,gles2,opengl} extensions that were never approved
72by Khronos.

73
EGL_EXT_create_context_robustness

74

77
Bug fixes

78
79
TBD -- This list is likely incomplete.

80
81
82
Changes

85

86The legacy/static Makefile system (ex: 'make linux-dri') has been removed.
87
88The two supported build methods are now autoconf/automake and SCons.
89

90
Removed support for GL_ARB_shadow_ambient extension

91
Removed Gallium3D - nvfx driver (use nv30 instead)

92

93libGLU has been moved into its own repository, found at https://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/glu/
