1# Supermicro X11SSH-F/X11SSH-LN4F 2 3This section details how to run coreboot on the [Supermicro X11SSH-F] or [Supermicro X11SSH-LN4F]. 4 5## Flashing coreboot 6 7The board can be flashed externally. [STM32-based programmers] worked. 8 9The flash IC "W25Q128.V" (detected by flashrom) can be found near PCH PCIe Slot 4. It is sometime 10socketed, and covered by a sticker, hindering the observation of its precise model. 11 12It can be programmed in-system with a clip like pomona 5250. 13 14## BMC (IPMI) 15 16This board has an ASPEED [AST2400], which has BMC/[IPMI] functionality. The BMC firmware resides in a 1732 MiB SOIC-16 chip in the corner of the mainboard near the PCH PCIe Slot 4. This chip is a 18[MX25L25635F]. 19 20## IGD 21 22If an IGD is integrated with CPU, it will be enabled on this board. Though there is no video output 23for it (The onboard VGA port is connected to BMC), it is said to be capable of being used for compute 24tasks, or for offloading graphics rendering via "muxless" [vga_witcheroo]. 25 26## Tested and working 27 28- SeaBIOS payload to boot Kali Linux live USB 29- ECC ram (Linux' ie31200 driver works) 30- Integrated graphics device available without output 31- USB ports 32- Ethernet 33- SATA ports 34- RS232 external 35- PCIe slots 36- BMC (IPMI) 37- VGA on Aspeed 38- TPM on TPM expansion header 39 40## Known issues 41 42- See general issue section 43- S3 resume not working (vendor and coreboot) 44- SeaBIOS cannot make use of VGA on Aspeed (even if IGD is disabled) 45 46## Difference between X11SSH-F and X11SSH-LN4F 47 48The PCB is identical. The X11SSH-F has 2 NICs, the X11SSH-LN4F has 4 NICs. 49So the X11SSH-F just doesn't have 2 NICs populated. 50 51## ToDo 52 53- Fix known issues 54- Testing other payloads 55 56## Technology 57 58```{eval-rst} 59+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 60| CPU | Intel Kaby Lake | 61+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 62| PCH | Intel C236 | 63+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 64| Coprocessor | Intel SPS (server version of the ME) | 65+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 66| Super I/O | ASPEED AST2400 | 67+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 68| Ethernet | 2x Intel I210-AT 1 GbE (for X11SSH-F) | 69| | 4x Intel I210-AT 1 GbE (for X11SSH-LN4F) | 70| | 1x dedicated BMC | 71+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 72| PCIe slots | 1x 3.0 x8 | 73| | 1x 3.0 x8 (in x16) | 74| | 1x 3.0 x4 (in x8) | 75| | 1x 3.0 x2 (in M.2 slot with key M) | 76+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 77| USB slots | 2x USB 2.0 (ext) | 78| | 2x USB 3.0 (ext) | 79| | 1x USB 3.0 (int) | 80| | 1x dual USB 3.0 header | 81| | 2x dual USB 2.0 header | 82+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 83| SATA slots | 8x S-ATA III | 84+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 85| Other slots | 1x RS232 (ext) | 86| | 1x RS232 header | 87| | 1x TPM header | 88| | 1x Power SMB header | 89| | 5x PWM Fan connector | 90| | 2x I-SGPIO | 91| | 2x S-ATA DOM Power connector | 92| | 1x XDP Port (connector may absent) | 93| | 1x External BMC I2C Header (for IPMI card) | 94| | 1x Chassis Intrusion Header | 95+------------------+--------------------------------------------------+ 96``` 97 98## Extra links 99 100- [Supermicro X11SSH-F] 101- [Board manual] 102 103[Supermicro X11SSH-F]: https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/motherboard/X11SSH-F 104[Supermicro X11SSH-LN4F]: https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/motherboard/X11SSH-LN4F 105[Board manual]: https://www.supermicro.com/manuals/motherboard/C236/MNL-1778.pdf 106[AST2400]: https://www.aspeedtech.com/products.php?fPath=20&rId=376 107[IPMI]: ../../../../drivers/ipmi_kcs.md 108[MX25L25635F]: https://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data%20Sheets/Macronix/MX25L25635F.pdf 109[STM32-based programmers]: https://github.com/dword1511/stm32-vserprog 110[vga_switcheroo]: https://01.org/linuxgraphics/gfx-docs/drm/gpu/vga-switcheroo.html 111
