This benchmark tests the 40core JavaScript language only, not the DOM or other browser APIs. It 41is designed to compare different versions of the same browser, and 42different browsers to each other. Unlike many widely available 43JavaScript benchmarks, this test is:</p> 44 45<dl> 46<dt>Real World<dt> 47<dd>This test mostly avoids microbenchmarks, and tries to focus on 48the kinds of actual problems developers solve with JavaScript today, 49and the problems they may want to tackle in the future as the language 50gets faster. This includes tests to generate a tagcloud from JSON 51input, a 3D raytracer, cryptography tests, code decompression, and 52many more examples. It's not all math, all string processing, or 59all timing simple loops. This benchmark runs each test multiple 66times and determines an error range (technically, a 95% confidence 67interval).
